Fun with Jesus

A few years ago Heather needed to buy a gift at our local Christian bookstore and I went along. While she was browsing, I decided, just for fun, to ask the Holy Spirit where he was in the store.

Seemed like he was on the main floor. I sensed he was over to the right, in a larger section away from the cashier. Yes, I could feel him there. I stood there for a while, then wondered if he would have a book for me. I was standing in front of a wall of them:

First I sensed it was just above the middle, then I it felt like not in the center, but not at the edges. Left or right? Right. Then I could “see” it. It wasn’t one that had the cover visible. I could only see the spine, and I couldn’t read the title. I went over and pulled it out.

“River Dwellers” by Rob Reimer. Jackpot! I like this guy, and I haven’t read it yet.

Then Heather came back and I told her I want to get “River Dwellers”. She said, “Yes, I got it.” I’m like, “No, I just picked it out.” She pulled it out of her bag, “No, I already got it for you.” What!? How!?

Did I need to be guided to the book by the Holy Spirit? No, Heather already got it for me. Did that make me more interested in reading it? Honestly, no. Heather is so tuned in that I would have been just as motivated if she’d just given it to me.

But was it fun? Oh, yeah. That was crazy. And confusing and amusing and amazing. And just fun.
