Heb 12:18-29 Reverence

As we get to the end of time, we will see for the first time: the devil for who he really is, God’s wrath, judgement and rewards revealed, and heaven in all its fullness.

  • vs. impressed with the beast — “God, I refuse to be intimidated by the devil and I revere you”
    • The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?” (Rev 13:3-4)
  • Wrath – “God, I revere your ultimate authority”
    • For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” (Rev 6:17)
  • Judgement and Rewards – “God, I recognize that I will ultimately be facing you with reverence”
    • “The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who revere your name, both great and small— and for destroying those who destroy the earth.” (Rev 11:18)
  • With God in No Pain – “God, I look forward to your amazing new order with reverence”
    • ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Rev 21:3-4)
