After starting us with faith, the ancients deliberately sought after God vs competing affections. They longed for God’s favour, and they were rewarded with the first signs, warnings and stories of miracles.
The bold points are the first mentions of these things in the Bible. And the prayers in quotes are for you to participate.
2) Noah’s Time: “he rewards those who earnestly SEEK HIM” – Heb 11:6
- vs. other affections – “God, I reject competing affections to seek You”
- The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward— when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. (Gen 6:4)
- God’s Favour – “God, as I seek you, I receive your favour”
- The Lord looked with favour on Abel and his offering (Gen 4:4)
- Stories of Miracles – “God, as I seek you, I choose to believe the miraculous stories”
- Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. (Gen 5:24)
- Warnings from God – “God, as I seek you, I heed your warnings”
- God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them” (Gen 6:13)
- Signs from God – “God, as I seek you, I receive the signs you send me”
- Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” (Gen 9:16)
