Stepping off the Path

I had a dream where God gave me a name (I looked it up and it was Hungarian for “watchman”) and showed me a spot overlooking Abbotsford from which I was to pray over the city. So I immediately went hiking! As I charged up the path, sweating and puffing, excited about my assignment, God began to speak to me.

Why are you so focussed on the path?
I’m going pretty fast and I don’t want to re-injure my knee.

Why are you going so fast?
I’m trying to get to the place you assigned me to pray from.

Have you noticed that everywhere around you, multiplication is happening
Yes, trees, bushes, weeds, birds, bugs… everything!

Why are you fixated on the path, when it’s the only place where there’s no multiplication?
Because I’m pretty good at paths. I know where I’m going and how to get there.

What would happen if you stepped off the path, even by a few inches?
I’d be in the middle of multiplication.

The path can get you close to where there’s multiplication, but you have to step off the path to multiply. Multiplication is always a mystery.
OK, I’ll slow down and focus on You.
